HCC celebrates World Teachers’ Day amidst the pandemic

“Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future of an individual. If the people remember me as a good teacher that will be the biggest honor for me.” stated A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. After two years of not celebrating teachers’ day properly due to the pandemic, this school year 2022-2023, teachers’ day was celebrated again in the school with a heart by teachers and students in their classrooms on October 4, 2022.

On the first day to celebrate teachers’ day, the students from Holy Cross College prepared a simple surprise for their teachers as a way of saying thank you for risking their lives so often to influence how kids learn and develop into people. Students showed their appreciation for their teachers by bringing them gifts, decorating the classroom, and other ways to demonstrate how much they valued them. While decorating each classroom, students are also preparing what they will eat after their surprise for their beloved educator. The teachers’ expressions revealed how surprised and delighted they were by the simple surprise in which their students rejoiced and made an effort to make the day special.

On the second day, October 5, 2022, teachers and the SSG officers planned to have an honoring celebration. The teachers held a celebration in the school’s gymnasium to congratulate them for their contributions to advancing knowledge among society’s citizens and to appreciate and honor all of their hard work. The day had also been very warm and delightful towards our beloved teachers. Also, Mr. Elmer Nucum conveyed his gratitude by giving his message. His message amused the faculty and students of Holy Cross College.

The teachers felt the excitement when the students performed for their intermission. The Senior High School officers danced during the intermission that the HCC had prepared. A song had also been developed by Integrated Basic Education. The mixed pleasant voices of the IBED are one of the factors that contributed to the students’ and teachers’ genuine satisfaction. The college students also composed a thank you song for our dear educators for the intermission. The residents of HCC once more praised the wonderful performances.

Furthermore, Dr. Leticia D. Flores spoke in front of the audience to share her thoughts and feelings regarding the event that the students had organized.

In a statement, Lindsay Pineda, one of the SSG officers in Junior High School Department said, “Even though it was just a little event, we are glad that our teachers and fellow students got to enjoy Teachers’ Day once more. We were glad despite our exhaustion from planning and organizing this event, as well as from witnessing the students’ indescribable excitement. We hope that the good times at Holy Cross College will continue, and we look forward to celebrating events there once more.”

To sum up, teachers’ day was joyfully and successfully celebrated again after two years of pandemic that affected everyone. Despite everyone’s experiences and those of the school, today will mark the beginning of the continuation of the enjoyment that the school with a heart began.
