VISION 

The Institute of Development Communication will be a leader in preparing future communicators who will be agents of change, advocates of peace and community development. Further, the Institute of Development Communication will prepare future communicators who will provide leadership through words, written articles and film guided by a strong faith in God instilled by Holy Cross College.

MISSION

In light of this vision, the Institute of Development Communication or  IDC aims to:

1. Instill love for the country and community.

2. Develop responsible, religious and critical students who will stand for their rights and the rights of their countrymen.

3. Contribute to the attainment of national development and social progress.

Program Goals and Objectives

The Institute of Development Communication aims to train future communicators who are competent, dedicated to helping the nation grow and practice professional and ethical standards in the fields of social science and communication.

The Institute of Development Communication has the following objective:

1. Provide instruction, training and studies in the field of communication with a specialization in broadcast, print, online, public relations, animation and multimedia designs.

a. Coordinate with tv stations, radio stations and print media for On-the-Job Trainings

b. Facilitate Media-lympics, where students can showcase and hone their skills in reporting, news writing and information gathering.

c. Provide seminars that will be facilitated by experienced communicators and video editors.

d. Maintain facilities and equipment necessary for future communicators and develop skills in reporting, news writing, information gathering and planning.

2. To guide students to become communicators who are advocates of human and women’s rights.

a. Conduct seminars on the role of media in the protection of human and women’s rights.

b. Set the faculty as models of human and women’s right

3. Guide Students to become communicators that promote and adhere to ethical standards and practices.

a. Conduct seminars on Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) Code of Ethics and Conduct.

b. Create programs where students will learn the importance and ethical standards and practices.

4. Instill the importance of communication/media to national development

a. Encourage students to be informed on national issues by including daily news assignments in the curriculum or daily activities.

b. Encourage students to take part in their community issues by inviting resource speakers from different sectors.

c. Inspire students to take part in national issues by inviting experienced media practitioners who helped in the development of their community.
