What are the various fields of HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT?

There are four various disciplines under the branch of Hospitality and Tourism. Here are some of the main areas that you may be exposed to in Hospitality Management.

  • Accommodation and Hospitality Management – relates to the handling of accommodation establishment such as hotels and resorts. It covers areas such as reservations, lodging and guest services.
  • Food Service Management – relates to operations for Food and Beverage (F&b business, involving areas such as planning and purchasing supplies, food hygiene and production and food service sequence.
  • Event Management – involves planning, managing and executing large scale events such as festivals, conferences, ceremonies, formal parties, concerts and conventions.
  • Tour and Travel Management – relates to the management of travel and tour industries such as airlines and cruise lines as well as holiday tours.

Holy Cross College Institute of Hospitality Management is equipped with well-maintained facilities where BS in HM students can practice their skills and theories they learned in the classroom.

GOALS

  • Develop employability skills required of Hospitality Management through the use of a competency-based program.
  • To enable students to develop their practical and managerial skills and gain relevant experience working within the environment so they can apply them effectively.
  • Students will demonstrate broad knowledge and proficiency in the core functional and support areas of the hospitality business.
  • Students will incorporate an understanding of ethical, social and legal issues in reaching business-related decisions.
  • Students will creatively and critically apply their knowledge and technological skills in identifying and solving problems.
  • Students will acquire the desire to engage in life-long learning as demonstrated by ongoing personal and professional development.

OBJECTIVES

  • To plan a progressive education training system and impart, through training both practical and theoretical knowledge, in every phase of Hospitality Management.
  • To work closely and proactively with the industry to address the need for a skilled workforce.
  • To engage the students in research undertakings and train them to become professional leaders in the hospitality industry.
  • To inculcate habits of courtesy, discipline, hard work and pride among the students in the efficient accomplishment of tasks entrusted to them.
  • To help the students establish habits of seeking knowledge as well as keeping abreast with the latest developments and business tools applications and technologies in the industry.
  • To support its faculty toward continuous enhancement of personal and professional qualities.
