More than 6,000 public school students will benefit from the agreement between the Department of Education Sta. Ana and Holy Cross College.

School president Atty. Dennis C. Pangan and Edna Pineda, DepEd Sta. Ana District Supervisor, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), September 13. Under the MOA, public schools in Sta. Ana will be given access to the college’s in-house e-Learning Management System, HCC Heart Cloud

This is the second year that both parties signed the agreement. Last 2020, HCC initiated the partnership with 12 Sta. Ana public schools as the education system faced struggles due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Grade 6 students from these public schools were given access to the e-LMS. This year, the access was expanded. Select Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 5 and Grade 6 public school students in Sta. Ana can now use the e-LMS.

“Marami na ang makaka-experience ng e-LMS ng HCC for this school year,” said Pineda as she thanked the college for allowing the DepEd to use the HCC Heart Cloud for free. She added, “Napakalaking tulong nito … With the help of the HCC Heart Cloud, magka-klase online ‘yung teacher, idi-discuss ‘yung mga lesson, and then after discussing the lesson, that will be the time for the student, for the learners to answer their modules.”

Before the HCC Heart Cloud was introduced to them, the public schools were implementing modular learning. Pineda believes the technology helps alleviate the challenges of distance learning for the students, teachers and parents or guardians.

Atty. Pangan has previously mentioned that these MOA between the DepEd and HCC is in line with the school’s core value Caritas.

“Gusto ko maipakita ng mga batang ito ang kanilang galing, kaya binigyan po namin kayo ng pagkakataon upang magamit ang e-LMS,” Pangan said.

Last September 9, the college conducted a refresher seminar on the use of the Cloud, in order to prepare the teachers and update them on the Cloud’s new features.

HCC Heart Cloud has a user capacity of over 20,000. Here, students can access their modules, upload tasks and interact with their classmates and instructors. To ensure user data security, the school’s Management Information System department oversees the Cloud. The department developed a separate link for DepEd students, but it has the same features like the link used by HCC students.
