Crucians are back to school!

After spending a year on distance learning, students are now back to school for progressive face-to-face classes at Holy Cross College for the Academic Year 2022-2023.

The school underwent a School Safety Assessment Tool and a series of inspections of the Municipal Risk Disaster Management Office of Santa Ana and the Department of Education to evaluate the preparedness of the school on accommodating learners back to school during a pandemic.

The College Department started their class on July 18 while Senior High School and the Elementary Department started the academic year on July 27.

However, the first day of class was hampered by the earthquake that was felt in different parts of Luzon. Student Affairs and Services Department, Dean Benjie Nolasco said the suspension of classes and office transactions is to ensure students’ safety and to check the infrastructure.

“Wala naman nangyaring pinsala sa aming mga building at nagkaroon na rin kami ng suspension sa transaksiyon sa mga opisina sa hapon na ito para lubusan na makabalik bukas sa limited face-to-face classes. Ang aming pong advice sa lahat ng mag-aaral at magulang to keep in touch sa mga communication na ilalabas ng paaralan,” said Dean Nolasco on a live television interview last July 27.

Elementary students are welcomed in newly renovated classrooms to make learning more fun and enjoyable.

The Junior High School students attended their first day of class last August 1 and were assisted by teachers to their classroom and seating arrangements. Students are assigned based on a seat plan to maintain social distancing.

Jacqueline Punzalan, a parent lauds the school protocols for ensuring the safety and health of the learners.

“Pagpasok mo palang andyan na yung body temperature at lahat ng IATF protocols sinusunod. Pagpasok sa room ng mga bata akala nila pwede na magdikit-dikit pero hindi pwede so mayroon pa ring seating arrangement, one seat apart and okay ang kanilang papasok sa first day,” said Punzalan.

Nurses and safety officers are assigned to monitor the students while inside the campus. The school reminds students to always follow the mobility plan, especially the entrance and exit to maintain safe distance among individuals.
