The roster of high-caliber instructors and professors at Holy Cross College played a huge role in the rising number of enrollees, the school administrator believes.
Dr. Leticia Flores, HCC Vice President for Academic Affairs, took the chance to thank the teaching staff during the first general orientation of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education (SASED). SASED is also the college department in HCC which has the most number of doctor’s degree holders as faculty members. Eight of the teaching staff (both full-time and part-time) are doctors in their respective fields of expertise.
“To our teachers, my deepest gratitude. Tumaas na naman ang number of enrollees natin… All of this [is] because of our faculty. Thank you. You are our frontliners,” Dr. Flores addressed the teachers. She added, “Because of you, our promise of quality education is being actualized, fulfilled.”
As of August 11, 5,402 students are officially enrolled. Last academic year, there were 4,705 from grade school to college. There are still several applicants waiting to be enrolled as of writing. The enrollment period was extended for the third time to August 13.
The VPAA asked the teachers “not to give up on students” as the pandemic continues to pose threats and challenges to the education system. This is the second year of distance learning at HCC. There is no order yet from the government on the reopening of schools for traditional face-to-face classes. Dr. Flores, however, said she is confident that HCC is ready to transition to blended learning once the Department of Education greenlighted it.
In blended learning, students learn through online platforms as well as traditional face-to-face classes.
“We are very much eager to welcome you back to your second home,” Dr. Flores told the students in attendance.
As of the moment, teachers and HCC students interact through online media and the school’s e-Learning Management System or the HCC Heart Cloud.
