As one of the leading Catholic educational institution in Central Luzon, Holy Cross College maintains in highlighting faith amid challenges brought by the pandemic and calamities.
After the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses in Pampanga, the school with a heart held a thanksgiving mass at the HCC Chapel officiated by Rev. Fr. Reynaldo Cruz last November 16.
Despite the struggles brought into the school during the 75 years in operation, a lot of blessings and opportunities have opened for the school. Thus, it also a time to give to the community especially, during calamities.
Rev. Fr. Cruz shared he is in awe of the ‘Bayanihan spirit’ of Filipinos during hard times in the community.
“You are willing to give what is important to you to serve other people, that is something. Let us continue professing our faith king mitmung kasalpantayanan. Kung sakali mang mipagkaluban tamu ketang adwan tamu, pakit kang kayapan king sarili mu, pakit kang kayapan karing kapara tamu,” Rev. Fr. Cruz said during the homily.
Aside from the Eucharistic Celebration to start the commemoration of the 75 fruitful years of Holy Cross College, a virtual stage play focusing on the story of finding the cross will be launched on November 27, 2020.
The play entitled “Emperatris Helena at Pamagdulap King Krus” is different from the annual stage play of the Krus Festival of the school every November. This year’s virtual play focuses on the story of Helena and her strong faith in God. The story centers on the journey of Helena to find the true cross.
“Paghahanap sa Krus dahil sa kaniyang pagmamahal sa kaniyang anak, kinasasakupan, at sa matinding paniniwala niya sa relihiyong Kristiyanismo,” stage play director, Arlene Marie Ocampo said.
The play is in Kapampangan and formatted in quatrain poem written by the publication moderator of the school, Angelica Marie Simpao with the help of Kapampangan writer Jessa Lacap.
Using modern technology, the play was made possible by the technical direction of Mark Joshua Lansangan. Each scene was carefully portrayed following Church history.
Also, the virtual play showcased the talented students and employees of Holy Cross College which will help viewers love and understand why Helena became the mother of Christianity.
