Recollection of IBED studs focuses on faith, hope amid challenges

The recollection of Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) students kicked-off last 29 January 2021.

Holy Cross College Campus and Outreach Ministry office organized the recollection which focuses on having a glimpse of hope and a journey of faith amid the challenges brought by the pandemic.

Forty-eight (48) grade 6 students together with their adviser attended the first session of the recollection which lasted for more than two hours.

The grade 6 students took a break from their academic activities to meditate and reflect on the word of God.

Recollection speaker, Mr. Quincy Casupanan emphasized that it is also important to have this time to focus on having faith and believing God despite the struggles that hinder a lot of students from their normal daily life.

Casupanan added that reflecting will help students determine the path they want to walk as they are about to move towards another level of their academic journey.

“Kung nagkakaroon kayo ng problema aalalahin niyo my dear students kindly visit or read the bible or search this (Jeremiah 29:11), For I Know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Casupanan said.

He also discussed the lessons of Faith to the students where he tackled trust, dependence and obedience. However, Casupanan also acknowledges that some of the youth tend to lose faith and hope along their rocky journey.

Grade 6 adviser, Christine Alarcon shared that students endured the challenges of pandemic like failing or not achieving things they want.

“Sometime(s) kasi iyong expectation versus reality natin especially pandemic those that are simple things na ineexpect to aim high grades, this is reality na mag eexpect hindi naman po sila nagcocomply. Sometimes we do lose hope talaga iyong expectations naging barrier, hindi natin makuha yung gusto natin. Yung mga small things na iyan may big effect,” Alarcon said.

Quincy Casupanan said notwithstanding all the struggles there is someone who will always guide and bless the students in whatever journey they are taking right now. He reminded students to pray with open mind and heart.

“We have the components of prayer, for praise God, Adoration, sinasamba natin ang Diyos. Next one is Contrition, asking for forgiveness, humingi ng tawad sa Diyos. Then, Thanksgiving, magpapasalamat tayo sa Diyos and last one is Supplication is you are asking for something to God,” he said.

He highlighted that after asking for God’s grace, student shall also know what their responsibilities are, just always do your best and God will do the rest.
