IBED, SHS academic year starts anew

Holy Cross College pushed through the start of classes for Basic Education and Senior High School, because of its readiness for the academic year 2020 – 2021. This is despite the recommendation of the Department of Education to defer the opening of classes due to the pandemic

While other schools moved again their opening of the school year from August 24 to October 5 to get ready, orient, and conduct dry runs, the school with a heart is one step ahead as they go aboard on a new learning environment.

HCC President, Atty. Dennis C. Pangan welcomes the student with the best learning management system that can deliver quality and accessible education.

“Makakaasa po kayo na ginagawa po ng pamunuan ng Holy Cross ng ating mga guro ang lahat ng kanilang puwedeng gawin para maging masaya ang pagaaral ng inyong mga anak. Sabi nga natin sa Kapampangan, mipapanantabe ta pu at mipapanyadsad,” President Pangan said.

Teachers, students, and parents underwent training months before the opening of classes to equip them in the better normal in education. They are fully trained to use the HCC Heart cloud, the e-Learning Management System of the school. This virtual platform serves as the medium to connect educators and learners for a better learning experience even outside the classroom.

Moreover, students who don’t have access to free internet were given printed modules that were personally delivered by the school. These modules will be distributed at their doorstep every two weeks to help them learn and develop skills while at the comfort of their homes.

The Integrated Basic Education (IBED) Principal, Arliza Reyes welcomes students as they set foot to a new journey in virtual education.

“I may not see you around today in school but still my heart is with you. Let us all start the year right so that it will end right. So study hard, stay positive, have fun, and keep smiling. Don’t forget to live up to our core values of HCC which are the Fides, Caritas, and Libertas for this will lead to being a righteous individual, ” she said.

More than accepting the challenge in continuing education during this crucial time in pandemic, teachers, and employees are always on the go to help learners and attend to their needs.

The Senior High School Principal, Marie Teresa Edejer urged students to communicate and always consult their teachers whenever they encounter challenges.

“If ever you find difficulties in your studies don’t hesitate to tell your advisers and teachers. Naging mahaba ang inyong bakasyon but nevertheless a few months from now you are graduation and I hope I can see you wearing your togas,” Edejer said.

“To the teachers let us work hard because this is all what we signed for. Alam naman natin na sa teaching walang masyadong pera but this is a very fulfilling job, Diyos na ang bahala sa atin sabi nga,” she added.

Before opening the classes of IBED and SHS, the school ensures that only qualified educators will be allowed to teach. HCC guarantee that all teachers from the said department are all licensed teacher.

The face-to-face classes are still suspended until further notice of the national government thus classrooms are still empty but Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Leticia Flores said learning still happens in HCC.

“This is the virtual classroom of the 21st-century education and Holy Cross College is in it, hindi tayo pahuhuli. Fly with us, learn with us harapin po natin ang pagsubok ng sabay-sabay makakaya po natin lahat ito,” she said.
