Holy Cross College, nestled in the heart of Santa Ana, Pampanga, recently marked its 78th founding anniversary with a weeklong celebration, showcasing its rich heritage and commitment to academic excellence.
n a joyful display of tradition, camaraderie, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence, Holy Cross College recently commemorated its 78th founding anniversary with a series of vibrant and memorable events from November 23-30.
Located in Santa Ana, Pampanga, Holy Cross College has been a cornerstone in the educational landscape for nearly eight decades, standing as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment.
The anniversary festivities kicked off with a ceremonial Christmas tree and lantern lighting, bringing together students, faculty, alumni, and guests to celebrate both the founding anniversary and the upcoming holiday season.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Leticia Flores emphasized the significance of Christmas and shared a message of joy amid pain, highlighting the theme of Immanuel – God is with us.
“Christmas reminds us to be still, to be at peace because He is always with us until the end. This is what Immanuel means- God is with us. He is not just watching, he walks and suffers with us – look at the footprints in the sand – and most of the time, He carries us, It is joy amid pain- knowing that He is with us,” Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Leticia Flores said.
Different caritas activities were launched to give back to the community, including Noche Buena packages for select beneficiaries and a three-hour journey to distribute school supplies and snacks to students in Sapang Bato, Angeles, Pampanga.
RC Del Rosario, President of the College Student Council, expressed the heartening sentiment of reaching out to those in need, emphasizing that distance should not be a barrier to aiding others.
“The act of reaching out to those in need, especially from a distance, is truly heartening. It underscores the idea that distance should not be a barrier when it comes to aiding others.”
A colorful fun run, participated in by hundreds of students, employees, and alumni, painted the town with vibrant hues, creating unforgettable memories and fostering a sense of unity among participants.
“Super enjoy. Nakakapagod pero super fun lalo na iyong nakasama ko iyong kapwa ko first year students at first time namin ito sa Holy Cross,” Jeniffer Castro said after joining the Color Fun Run 2023.
HCC also launched the College Department’s Intramurals 2023, showcasing students’ skills, team spirit, and sportsmanship in a thrilling lineup of games and competitions.
The celebration featured various activities highlighting the diverse talents and accomplishments of the college community, including mesmerizing performances during the battle of the bands and the successful 5th Crucian Film Festival.
The festivities concluded with the coronation of the Mister and Miss HCC 2023, showcasing the beauty, wit, and charm of Crucian candidates.
The successful celebration of Holy Cross College’s 78th founding anniversary stands as a testament to the institution’s enduring legacy and its unwavering commitment to nurturing holistic and socially responsible individuals. As the college looks ahead to the future, a road to 80 years, it remains dedicated to shaping generations of leaders and fostering a community driven by knowledge, integrity, and service.
“Mula noon hangang ngayon, hindi kailanman itinuring ng HCC na hiwalay ito sa komunidad, malinaw na kabahagi tayo ng komunidad…With my limitations as the overall chair, we have talented employees and students working as committee chairs and members. With the limitations I have and you have, we always look at the almighty God as our source of inspiration, hope, and strength to carry on,” SASD Head and Overall Chairperson, Dean Benjie Nolasco said.
