Getting ready for the opening of the class in August, the students of Holy Cross College begin using the e-Learning Management System. The virtual platform will be utilized for the online classes and remote learning during this pandemic.
The fast-tracked digitalization project of the current administration helps to serve students and to continue giving quality education amid crisis.
The school with a heart already started the pilot testing last July 20 to students who are above 21 years old and with parents’ consent. Health protocols are always observed throughout the training.
Students from the Institute of Accountancy and Criminology started using the e-LMS to experience online classes and to explore the features of the platform.
A simulation of a classroom session of more than an hour was conducted by the College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Dean Yolanda Manalili to test the capability and responsiveness of the e-LMS to students.
“This particular training gave our students the chance to experience the online learning and they are now in a better situation to choose whether they go online or they go modular,” Dean Manalili said.
During the classroom session, they used the different features of the e-LMS like learning path, forums, chats, announcements, notes, and course progress. They also try video conferencing for the online class to interact with students.
An incoming freshman student of BS Accountancy joined the pilot class to discover the quality of the virtual platform being offered by the school with a heart.
“Nag-enjoy po ako at naintidihan ko po iyong flow ng process kung paano po sila magturo at magdeliver ng knowledge sa mga students,” she said.
Nina Amor Reyes, a first year student from BSA shared that her first choice was modular but due to the accessibility of the e-LMS she now considers having class online.
“Actually noong una po nacoconcious po ako kasi I am not that good in gadgets sa mga ganiyan po kinakabahan po ako kasi baka may mali po akong mapindot magkamali ako, pero later on habang ini-explain po ni maam iyong mga dapat gawin medyo natututo na po ako tapos naencourgae ko na po sarili ko na madali lang po talaga and kapag gusto mo talaga matuto magagawa mo ang mga bagay-bagay, she said.
Shiela Andria Daria, second-year BS Criminology student, also shifted from modular to online class because of the different features that make it easy for learning.
“Pinili ko po iyong modular then ngayon pong nagkaroon ng meeting or orientation about e-learning management system nagshit po ako,” she said.
Another pilot testing schedule was set to cater to different students from different programs. All enrolled students will be given a user account to explore and discovers from themselves the features and quality of the virtual platform of the school.
The e-LMS will be officially launched to all students before the end of the month and to prepare them for the opening of classes on August 3 for college and August 24 for elementary to senior high school.
A video tutorial of the e-LMS will also be released to guide students in their accounts.
