Holy Cross College, the school with a heart, continues to live by its core value Libertas as it officially becomes a member of the Central Luzon Health Research and Development Consortium or CLHRDC.
On December 10, 2021, the CLHRDC welcomed Holy Cross College as its newest educational institution member. HCC applied for membership earlier this year.
The CLHRDC is overseen by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) and the Department of Science & Technology Region III (DOST-III). According to the organization, its aim is to ‘harmonize’ and ‘consolidate fragmented health research activities’ done by research institutions in Central Luzon.
As a new member, HCC’s health-related research studies may be submitted to the Consortium. Currently, the organization has more than 20 members from regional government agencies, higher educational institutions (HEI), and medical institutions.
Both the PCHRD and DOST-III allocate funds for the research projects of the consortium members.
For its part, HCC has completed the following studies:
- ABOMICS: An Automated BMI Computing System on Learning Institutions
- Behind Stories: The Needs, Concerns, and Psychological Well-being of OFW Children at Holy Cross College
- Body Image Perception in the Development of Filipino Adolescenets’ Self-Esteem
On the other hand, these are the ongoing health-related studies conducted by the school:
- Proposed Automated Alarm System for Proper One Meter Social Physical Distancing with Electronic Sensors
- Exploring the Lived Experiences of Teachers while on Academic Health Break in Selected HEIs
HCC employees, particularly its teaching staff, work with the Research and Development Unit (RDU) in conducting the abovementioned studies. RDU Head Dr. Paolo Lumanlan said the school is gearing up to do more health-related studies in the next academic year.
