Bastion of democracy: Radio Libertas is on air!

Radio Libertas of Holy Cross College is the first education radio station in the eastern part of Pampanga was launched last February 15 and was attended by media partners in Central Luzon.

One Media Pampanga (GNNTV 44) General Manager Benny Guinto and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 3 Director William Beltran joined the maiden broadcast of Arangkada Pampanga hosted by HCC Publication Moderator Angelica Marie Simpao.

The first broadcast tackles the importance of community journalism that has seen throughout the year to amplify the voice of the powerless, facilitate change and mobilize participation in different social issues in the community.

During this crucial time of the pandemic, communication is very much needed as well as the role of young journalists and communication students to deliver accurate reports and information.

“Napakaganda na naitayo niyo itong Radio Libertas dahil makakatulong kayo sap ag inform ng ating mga kababayan na tungkol sa kanilang fake news na nababasa ang dami ngayon. Kaya dapat malaman natin ang source ng balita kung credible ba iyan, kaya dapat pag-aralan muna natin, huwag agad i-share, i-like at napakaganda nitong ginagawa ng Holy Cross College, Malaki ang maitutulong sa pag sugpo ng fake news o disinformation,” Guinto said.


PIA Regional Director William Beltran commends the school radio as it works hand in hand in the information agency and local media to inform, educate and entertain the citizens.


“The real essence of community journalism is that is created to cater to local people it is a way of local storytelling, we tell the story of the locals, and iyong malapit sa atin. Mas malapit sa tao, mas relevant ang information mas pinakikinggan like Radio Libertas we can easily disseminate information,” Beltran said.

The Radio Libertas aims not just to disseminate information but to contribute to the progress of society by using accurate, factual, and significant information. This will also be the training ground for the Development Communication students and campus journalists of the school.


The HCC will be the first school in Pampanga that will have a regular radio programming that will run from Monday to Saturday, 6:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon.

HCC President, Atty. Dennis C. Pangan said there will be different programs that will tackle the core values of Fides, Caritas, and Libertas.


“Kasama lahat mula sa pamunuan hangang sa mga estudyante, magkakatandem ko ay isang Junior High School students. Andiyan ang mga programa na magpapakita ng ating pananampalataya sa Panginoon, sa Caritas naman andiyan ang ating pagtulong sa kapwa. Sa Libertas andiyan po ang edukasyon, malayang pamamahayag at tatalakayin din natin ang mga masalimuot na isyu sa national, local at maging sa bayan ng Santa Ana,” President Pangan said.

The community radio can be accessed via the Official Facebook Page, website, and e-Learning Management System of Holy Cross College. In addition to, it can also be heard via Zeno FM, a free air, internet radio. Listeners can download the Zeno FM application via Google or Apple application store.

The regular program will start with the banner news program Arangkada Pampanga hosted by Development Communication students to be followed by a music program – Heartbeats.

Every 10:00 in the morning until 12 in the noon, the Outreach Ministry head Sir Ronnie Carlos will host the program All About Faith to be followed by the Fides Playlist.

The Radio Libertas will also showcase Original Filipino Music and most requested songs every afternoon in the Heartbeats to be followed by educational shows like All About Safety, Puso ng Bayan, Quaranthings, and Alumni Spotlight.

Staying true to its commitment to serve the people, the radio will also air programs like Serbisyo Mula sa Puso hosted by Atty. Dennis Pangan every Saturday at 8:30 in the morning.
