Employees of Holy Cross College heed to the call of service in the middle of the pandemic to continue giving quality education to the students.
The administration lauded the employees for their determination and compassion in serving the stakeholders in the 2-day orientation of teachers and employees at the new auditorium building and via Zoom last July 13-14.
HCC President, Atty. Dennis C. Pangan emphasized that being a teacher is not a profession but a vocation because it goes beyond limits to reach students and give them affordable and quality education.
President Pangan believes that quality education starts with quality teaching, he urged the teachers to continue giving their best even during these crucial times.
“I promise to all the students of Holy Cross College a quality education…and quality education starts with quality teaching and quality teaching starts from helping qualified professors. Sooner we will start teaching and this is the most challenging part in the academe no face-to-face no more kuwento, no more jokes inside the classrooms kasi po nakaranas din ako ng mga teachers na for 45 minutes na class ikukuwento lang ang buhay niya sa klase,” he said.
Along with the hard work and dedication of teachers and employees, the President said the admin will continue to give employees what they deserve.
“This is the hardest time in the academe but at holy cross college not a single time that we delay your salaries and not a single time we do not look after your welfare,” President Pangan said.
In addition, the school improvised ways for the betterment of the lives of its employees. After the three waves of Caritas to help hardly-hit employees by the pandemic, the school with a heart distributes vacation pay.
The vacation pay was received by employees every month, April, May and June. The pay was given according to the length of service of each employee.
The orientation also tackles how the new administration collaborates with the employees.
“Bukod tangi ang Holy Cross College, paaralang may puso. My administration is a listening administration, I listen to your opinions, I value your opinions, I value your suggestions, you don’t need to go to my office you reach me through my messenger I created a lot of group chats,” President Pangan said.
In the new normal in education, the school with a heart is more than prepared to give quality education as they planned for the flexible learning approach.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Leticia Flores said that HCC community can move towards excellence by helping each other to reach the goal.
“Nobody says it easy and some schools are closing lahat tayo apektado economy, social, political and the life that we live but again we have no choice we have to adapt to the change or the other way we become obsolete that is a choice. This can be an opportunity for us to shine and show what we are capable, anong kayang gawin ng Holy Cross, not only in Pampanga but in the national coverage,” she said.
Dr. Flores urged the employees and teachers to travel the extra mile just to cater to the student’s needs. The employees then agreed to have extra effort to overcome this pandemic by giving quality and accessible education for all.
