On Valentine’s Day, save lives by giving blood

The school with a heart shows love and care for others through a Blood Donation Drive at the HCC Quadrangle, February 14.

The 6th bloodletting activity was spearheaded by Health Services Division in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross.

“As a way of helping and saving lives, the school with a Heart, once again conducted blood donation drive in this very special day, the Valentine’s day, to show and give love to others especially those who are in need of blood,” said HCC Nurse Rose Anne Balagtas.

“We want to express our sincerest gratitude to our donors for their unending act of kindness. They are truly a hero,” she added.

HCC employees and parents joined the activity of saving lives by giving blood. Before the said activity school nurses monitored and evaluated interested donors.

This year’s program is more meaningful as more of the donors are from the Kabalikat Civicom Santa Ana Chapter, a civic organization who promotes ‘bayanihan’ spirit and fosters fellowship in the community. The group was spearheaded by the Officer-in-Charge Michelle Pelayo and Chairman Rey Tumang.

“Donating blood on Valentine’s Day is to extended love to others and to spread awareness on sexually transmitted disease, ang kulay pula ay simbolo ng puso at pagmamahal. Pinili namin na mag-donate sa mismong araw ng mga puso upang magbigay inspirasyon at pag-asa sa ating mga kababayan na nangangailangan nito,” said Kabalikat Civicom Chapter President, Jeffrey Lansangan.

The Philippine Red Cross collected 15 bags or 6,750ml of blood that can save lives of patients.
