Salamat, Among Nes

Fr. Nestor L. Sibug, fondly known as Among Nes, was the embodiment of our school’s three core values: Fides, Caritas, Libertas.

He was a servant of God, who dedicated his life to spreading the Lord’s works and actions through priesthood. Among Nes, upholding his vow to charity as a priest and member of the school with a heart, was active in our community extension programs.

But perhaps, he will always be well-known as a man of Libertas.

Among Nes was always a follower of truth and liberty, too. He took learning to his heart and gave his wisdom to people he encountered—to his students, especially. He held a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theology as a Cum Laude; a master’s degree in Theology and Clinical Psychology as a Magna Cum Laude. He also had a doctorate in Psychology as a Magna Cum Laude. He knew the importance of wisdom in living a great life guided by the examples of Christ. And he knew, as God’s disciple, he had to share what he learned.

It was 1986 when Among Nes entered the academe as a guidance counselor, psychometrician, and part-time faculty in different schools in the country. Over the years, he also served as chairperson, dean, and academic vice-president of big universities in Pampanga and beyond. Just this 2021, he joined the Holy Cross College as the program chair of the Psychology Department.

A visionary, he had so many plans for the department, for its students, and the school. His stay at the school with a heart, while brief, had made a huge impact in our immediate community, as proven by the words of his students and co-faculty.

On October 05, 2021, our beloved Among Nes has joined our Creator. He was 55. Among Nes’ had accomplished his mission in the world. We will always remember him for the great life that he lived and the lives that he touched when he walked the earth.

The entire Holy Cross College community mourns the passing of  Among Nes. The school with a heart joins Among Nes’ family and friends in praying for his eternal repose and peace. He will be in our hearts, always.

Eternal rest grant unto Him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
