To honor HCC founder Rev. Msgr. Fernando C. Lansangan, the school upholds faith, charity and liberty.
As the Holy Cross College community celebrated the 108th birth anniversary of its founder, Rev. Msgr. Fernando Capati Lansangan, remembered his invaluable contributions to the school, as well as Sta. Ana town.
A wreath was laid at the founder’s monument on August 15. The school commemorated Msgr. Lansangan on August 16, during the first flag-raising ceremony for this academic year, which was live-streamed on HCC’s official Facebook page.
Msgr. Lansangan founded the Holy Cross College on November 29, 1945, three years after he served Sta. Ana, Pampanga as the Parish Priest. This is his response to the demand of the town for a formal educational institution that would address the needs of the youth of Sta. Ana. He was supported by 39 other civic-minded individuals of the town, who also greatly contributed to the establishment of the school.
The founder’s initials “FCL” also inspired the school’s core values Fides (Faith), Caritas (Charity) and Libertas (Liberty).
As Ester Muldong, Chief Registrar, shared the life story of Msgr. Lansangan, she described the founder as “Isang buhay na tipan ang kanyang pananampalataya sa Diyos, [pagmamalasakit] sa mga mahihirap at ang kanyang dedikasyon sa edukasyon ng kabataan upang palayain sila mula sa kahirapan at kamangmangan.”
The founder was the epitome of the school’s core values.
The school administration has constantly emphasized the importance of living by these core values. HCC shows this through its religious activities, such as virtual recollections, catechisms and First Friday Mass. The school also regularly organizes charity programs, most notably its community pantries. As part of its mission to push for truth and freedom, HCC provides quality education and avenues for the school community to voice their opinions. These platforms include student publications, a radio station and TV program.
