HCC Caritas on wheels rolling in Santa Ana, nearby towns

After two weeks of initiating the first community pantry in Santa Ana, Pampanga, Holy Cross College started Caritas on wheels, a version of a rolling community pantry to reach more residents in Santa Ana and nearby towns in the eastern part of Pampanga.

A simple act of sharing resulted in overflowing support and donations that kept the pantry operational.  A total of 2, 194 Kapampangans benefited from the HCC Caritas Pantry.

Employees, teachers, students, alumni, and the whole HCC family took part in giving back to the community during this crucial time. Some employees pledged a salary deduction just to help the community during the pandemic.

The Caritas on wheel began its journey last May 15 headed by HCC President, Atty. Dennis C. Pangan and Caritas Chairperson Benjie B. Nolasco. This charity project aims to reach far-flung areas of the town and nearby municipalities that failed to visit the HCC Caritas Pantry last April 21 to May 6.

On the first day, the school distributed rice, canned goods, and vegetables to beneficiaries in barangay San Pablo of Santa Ana. To observe health and safety protocols during the distribution, school administrators coordinated with barangay chieftain Jesus Lising.

The Caritas on wheels touched the hearts of many.

“Keni pung binye yu dakal pung Salamat, makasaup ne pu ini kekami milabas na ke pung patingapun,” said Rolly Guiao.

“Dakal pung salamant king biyayang binye na ning Holy Cross College, sana dakal kayu pa asopan, deng memye sana kumaba kayu pa bie,” said Aiza Alberto.
