Foundation day is one of the most awaited celebrations of the school but due to pandemic, it hampered face-to-face activities. However, the school with a heart finds ways to continue the annual program that students look forward to.
In pursuit of Holy Cross College’s core value Libertas or liberty, the Integrated Basic Education (IBED) launched an innovative literary competition for elementary to senior high school students.
IBED Principal, Arliza Reyes spearheaded the competition which tapped the potentials and talents of 19 students from the junior and senior high school.
“Isa sa purpose ng ganiyang activitiy ay ipakita ang natatanging talento ng mga estudyante na talagang makikita mo na magaling ang mga Crucians pagdating sa deklamasyon at tiyaka oration. Ngayon taong ito medyo kakaiba ang idinaos na literary contest dahil nga sa pandemic,” Reyes said.
The eagerness of the students from the elementary department to join the storytelling competition was pursued while observing safety and health protocols amid the pandemic.
Teachers and cameraman from the Multimedia Department visited each student to video record their piece and to participate in the contest. 13 elementary students joined the contest.
In addition, the week-long literary competition was also participated by college students. The declamation and oration contest centers on the theme “Together, we will shine brighter in the pursuit of Fides, Caritas, and Libertas.”
This program aimed to showcase the talents of the student but also promote service to the people in the community amid the pandemic and to continue having strong faith in God during challenges.
