HCC’s new learning system is all set for the opening of classes

Holy Cross College President, Atty. Dennis C. Pangan declared all systems go for the academic year 2020-2021, the school with a heart targets to finish trial online classes by July and officially open the new school year by August 3 for college and August 24 for Integrated Basic Education.

In an interview with GNTV 44’s Flagship program News Force, President Pangan explained that HCC’s flexible learning approach will be implemented to cater to students who don’t have internet access.

“They can access the learning management system online and offline, but if they cannot access it or they don’t have internet access. They can study through modular learning, they can study at home with the supervision of our teachers and we will deliver education to their doorstep” he said in Kapampangan.

Before launching the HCC Heart Cloud and e-Learning Management System (LMS) the school trained its teachers to handle the system’s technical feature. They also undertake workshops on how to adapt to the new normal in education.

In addition to that, educators produced innovative ways of teaching to maintain the engagement of students online and offline.

The school with a heart provided teachers materials, laptops, or desktops to equip them in the new normal in education.

“For the internet requirements, we will provide smartphones to all our teachers so they can connect to their students, their internet allowance will also be handled by the Holy Cross College,” he said.

12.6% Increase in enrolment despite the pandemic

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the school registered more than 4, 000 students who are officially enrolled as of July 10, a 12.6% increase compared to the previous school year.

The surge of enrolees can be attributed to the school’s new programs and infrastructures. HCC also reaches out to students who are having a hard time completing their requirements.

The school with a heart extended its enrolment schedule until July 15 to cater to the students who are stranded in other places due to the pandemic.

“To all the students of Holy Cross College who are now in Uzbekistan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, US and all over the Philippines, don’t worry we are prepared, the Holy Cross College, we will still deliver to you a quality education. To all parents, don’t worry we will not force your child to go to school during this pandemic. They can study at home with internet or modules,” President Pangan explained.

No student left behind

Pangan assured that no student will be left behind especially during the pandemic, the school allowed the P500 down payment for tuition fee just to enroll students who are hardly hit by the pandemic.

A no uniform policy will also be implemented during the first semester to lessen the expenses of the parents during this crisis.
